BECOME A LOVING LEADER

Providing in-home training to all of Boulder county and the Denver area.

Our Mission

Millions of dogs are brought into shelters across the United States every year. Unfortunately, some of them never leave. In a lot of these cases, it is just a miscommunication or lack of knowledge about why our dogs do the things they do. This can be the difference between giving up all hope or establishing a new relationship and working through the issues. At Loving Leaders it is our mission to educate the public about how to clearly and naturally communicate with our dogs, making addressing the issues a lot more clear.

Our Services

We offer private in-home training that is customized to fit your needs and abilities. As we progress through different levels of training we will evaluate the progress you and your dog have made. At higher levels, we can also meet in town or at the park. This is where we will put your dog’s skills to the test of real-life scenarios.

In the first lesson, we will come to your house for a private lesson. This is a two-hour session and we ask the whole family to attend. In this lesson, we go over our philosophy as well as work toward establishing a new relationship with your dog. This session is in-home because your home is familiar, it’s comfortable and you can control the amount of distractions and energy. This is a great environment for building the foundations of your relationship.

Why Us?

Isaac Reeve

Ten years ago I started my dog training career in New York where I grew up. At the time I was working in the construction field and after a while, I knew I didn’t want to do it forever. I didn’t know what my purpose was or the direction my life was going. My wife asked me one day “What makes you truly happy?” It was then that I realized I am the happiest around animals.

Our Philosophy

Loving Leaders Dog Training is based on the “Tenderfoot Method”. This method was created by Tenderfoot Training based in Boulder, Colorado. Our trainings are based around a relationship of Love, Trust and Respect. We use a wide, stiff flat collar and leash so both you and your dog are comfortable and there is no risk of injuries. We do not use food as our primary motivator or any “harsh devices” such as shock collars, pinch collars, gentle leaders, harnesses, etc. If you rely on a device to control your dog, your dog is also relying on that device and the relationship is with that device. The same goes for food, after a while you might find your dog doesn’t cooperate unless you have food in your hand. This is because the relationship is with the food. Whether you use food or devices working with your dog it is mainly to either control or avoid a situation. The problem is neither of these options teaches our dogs. Instead, we want to create different real-life scenarios and help teach our dogs to make the correct decision.

Dog Owner Reviews

I inquired about Issac as a dog trainer because of his caring, loving, and leadership style approach. I got my dog, Ivy when she was 2 years old from a shelter. While undeniably sweet, loving, and playful, she holds anxieties from her past that came out when meeting other dogs on leashes or when she felt nervous or scared. Issac came into my home with a gentle and caring demeanor that immediately relaxed my dog and made her feel safe. He gave me tips and exercises for her specific breed to practice helping her make good decisions and further our relationship as leader/dog by exercising her mind and allowing her the option to choose with positive rewards and practice. Seeing his relaxed and gentle nature, along with how much my dog wants to listen, give and receive love, please, and be guided gave me an immense amount of knowledge in how to build trust in my dog, which in turn has allowed her to build trust in me. After just a few sessions I felt confident to take my dog to the dog park- which has given her the freedom to use her own instincts, meet friends, and figure out her own little world with trust and confidence in herself while knowing that her leader is there for her. I truly feel so thankful to have found Issac- my relationship with Ivy has gotten so much stronger over the past few months and he gave me so much confidence in myself as a dog owner and in my dog at a time when I was really concerned about bringing her anywhere for fear of her reactive qualities. Thank you Issac- I can’t recommend his dog training service enough!

Becoming a Loving Leader!

The word “leader” has gotten a bad image in modern dog training. Loving Leaders Dog Training is here to clear its name! Some assume being a leader means you hurt or yell at your dog to show you’re the leader. This should never be the case! A leader is simply a decision maker. There is never a need for physical or mental abuse. Dogs live in social hierarchies and thrive from a leadership role. Let me help you become not just a leader but, a loving leader!
